Wargriders tend to try to circle your position to attack the flanks, trolls will surge forth to attack what appears to be a weaker (Lower renown player) force while the rest of the army moves forward and takes decent battlefield positions. Surprisingly enough, for a mod in perpetual beta with many, many, custom units, 'The Last Days of Middle Earth' has decent battlefield battles, with (at least in my experience) evil armies acting as one would suppose on the map. That is why I recommend it if you're looking for 'decent' battlefield AI/Tactics. This doesn't happen in Floris, in my experience. For instance, the 'round Robin Battlefield AI Bug', found most often when playing as a unit of an army in a Freelancer submod, will find the player involved in a 'battle' in which the two armies simply circle each other, getting closer and closer, but not engaging in combat in any sensible manner until the player does something or the unit formations actually touch.
